Bumblebee Jasper, which is debatably not a true Jasper, is extremely rare and unique! It was actually only recently discovered in the 1990’s in Papandayan Volcano, West Java Province, Indonesia. This mineral has not been found anywhere else on Earth and geologists don’t expect to find another deposit of it anytime soon. The name comes from the coloring which resembles a common bumblebee. This coloring is caused by inclusions of sulfur (yellow), calcium and Aragonite (white), Orpiment and Realgar (orange), and Pyrite (black).
