Orvil Jack Turquoise comes from the Nevada mine originally known as Blue Ridge. Orvil Jack moved his family to Nevada in 1956. Originally Mr. Jack coveted the blue webbed turquoise and mined some of the finest found in Nevada. In fact, he would discard the green turquoise which would later be the favorite. Today, the mine produces what is known as Orvil Jack Turquoise which ranges in color from yellows, blues, and vivid greens. The high zinc content is responsible for the vivid coloring. These stones are highly collectible, and once obtained most collectors keep them. Mr. Jack’s daughter and her family continue to mine the claims today.
